Reflecting on Five Years of Divorce Conversations for Women Podcast

This month marked a special milestone for me…it’s been 5 years since I launched my podcast, Divorce Conversations for Women! After years of working with women contemplating or going through a divorce, I realized that women wanted more support, especially when it came to finances. I created Divorce Conversations for Women as a go-to resource for increasing financial clarity for women and wanted it to cover everything from the practical aspects of financial wellness like questions to ask lawyers and how to increase cash flow; to the emotional side of maintaining creativity at work, redefining your life’s purpose, and the power of creating a personal brand post-divorce. Divorce is never easy, but if I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that women are strong, resilient, and thrive in community.

Thank you to everyone who has listened–141 episodes and counting later, the podcast has been downloaded more than 82,000 times and continues to be a source of inspiration not just for the women listening, but for myself as well. That’s why this month, I wanted to share a few of my favorite episodes and the moments I loved most.

Where it All Began.

Divorce can be an emotionally difficult time in your life. You may feel lost, alone, and abandoned by people who were supposed to love you through thick and thin. And even if they don't know what it's like on the other side of the divorce process, you assumed they would be there to support you. Sometimes though…that doesn’t happen. And sometimes, even your lawyer isn’t necessarily your advocate. My first episode really gets to the heart of how to find clarity during hard times, how to maintain creativity at work, and how to redefine your goals. There is a spectrum of how messy divorces can be, but with a strong support system of experts that offer practical (like financial tips or questions to ask before hiring lawyers), things might be hard, but not devastating. (and also keep things interesting).

To Stay or Go–that’s Always a Question.

It's one of the most difficult decisions a woman can make: whether to stay in a marriage or leave. And it's not a decision anyone makes lightly. In this episode, "Should I Stay or Should I Go?", Kate Anthony and I share various coaching tools, relationship education resources, geeky neuroscience, community systems, and types of self-work strategies women can use while going through the divorce process. Kate also shares her divorce experience and how she was able to find her way to a more fulfilling life. I’ve found that through stories, we feel less alone and combined with proven tools, women can access the courage to choose what is best for them.

Trust Your Gut.

In this Trust Your Intuition episode, I sat down with Cyrina Talbott to learn more about how we can all connect more with and trust our intuition. Cyrina shares tips–such as forgiving yourself for past mistakes, listening to your body, and paying attention to your emotions–on how to tap into our intuition and use it as a powerful guide to help us navigate through life, even when things are tough. Trusting your intuition takes practice, but it's worth it and can contribute to everyone living a happier and more fulfilling life.

Before You File…Listen to this Episode!

No one gets married expecting to get divorced. But sometimes, despite our best efforts, marriages just don't work out. And when that happens, divorce can be the best solution for everyone involved. Russell Knight is a family law attorney who has seen it all when it comes to divorce. In episode 79, I sat down with Russell to discuss what he thinks are the most important things to consider before filing for divorce. He offers some great tips and advice about how to make the process run smoothly and shares some secrets that can help keep things amicable. Russell emphasizes the importance of considering parenting time, child support, alimony, and the division of assets before making any decisions. He also encourages people to get their ducks in a row by gathering all relevant paperwork and financial documents. By following his tips, those considering divorce can help set themselves up for success.

How to Not Just Survive, but Thrive Post-Divorce.

No one said divorce would be easy. It's a tough and emotionally charged process, made even more complicated by things like finances, custody arrangements, and simply figuring out how to live your life as a single person again. But there is hope! In episode 76, family law attorney James Quigley shares seven tips to help women get through divorce. From making sure to focus on yourself and your needs and understanding your rights and what you are legally entitled to during this process–to how to let go of guilt, build a support system, and prioritize your wellness–this is an episode you’ll want to grab a pen and paper so you can take notes!

These are just five of 141 truly exceptional episodes that feature so many incredible experts sharing their stories, advice, and experience to help women going through or contemplating divorce. If you haven’t checked out the podcast, please do! And if you have and got something from it…we’d love a review! Your words matter. Thank you again for five years of so many wonderful moments!
